Hey human, my name is River. I’m a 9-year-old, 67 lb. Golden Retriever and I’m so glad to be with TGRR! Can you believe that for the first 9 years of my life I didn’t know what a toy was? Yeah, I didn’t live like most “household pets” live, because well…. I wasn’t a “household pet,” but we don’t need to rehash old details. Let me ask you this:  are you looking for your first dog ever? If so, then we wouldn’t be a good fit. You see, I’m not a perfect dog, but here’s a friendly reminder:  no dog is perfect, especially not us rescues. But rescue pooches are the best pooches because you get to see us blossom! So yeah, I’m a work in progress, but deep down, I’m a really sweet guy 🙂 I’m learning so many new things since coming to TGRR. I’m learning that I don’t have to bark at new people, how to walk on a leash, and they’re teaching me how to ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ and other things like that. Here’s the good news:  I am a really smart dog, and once I get to know you, we’ll be BFFs forever! I’d love to live in a quiet place, with no kids in the house and no cats, and I’d really like to be an only dog and have you all to myself!  In other words, if you will rescue me, then I’ll rescue you.
