What’s a Field Golden, you ask? It’s me!!! I’m Reba, I’m one year old and weigh 60 pounds. I’m told that Field Goldens are bred to have a job and are highly energetic. We tend to be thinner than traditional Goldens and while we LOVE people, we’re happiest doing an energetic task like agility or nosework, going hunting, or playing lots of fetch.
I’m a quick learner and have mastered dropping a lacrosse ball into a net in the short time I’ve lived with my foster family. I want to please but I’m also prone to selective hearing if I get distracted investigating some smell or sound.
I meet other dogs appropriately and I would do well in a home with another energetic, confident dog(s) who would help me feel more secure. I’m good meeting children as well. I used to live with cats and get along fine with them.
I’m getting more comfortable the more times I go out and meet new people and experience new things. I tend to be shy at first, but quickly warm up.
I’m hesitant about getting into a car, but ride like a champ once I’m in. I’m fine in a crate if you want to leave me in one when you leave the house or overnight while you sleep.
My foster family says one of my most endearing qualities is that I have the sweetest personality and that I LOVE to snuggle – that is, once they exhaust some of my energy!
So if you’re looking for a high energy dog that you can hike with or are interested in participating in dog sports, I’m your gal!
