Hi there, I’m Winston and I’m a young, energetic work-in-progress. I’m a year old and weigh 55 pounds.

I love people and other dogs but I’m fearful when I first meet another dog. Once I’m familiar with them and in a familiar environment, I’m all in for playing chase, wrestling and playing with toys and playing tug.

Speaking of taking on new things, that’s the main thing I’m working on with my Foster Dad. When I first got here, I would freeze up on the leash and try and back out of my harness. Now that I know him and feel comfortable with our routine, I’m mostly OK with walking on the leash through our neighborhood. My recall isn’t great, so I need someone who can be patient and strong with me on the leash so I can become more comfortable with walks as part of a consistent routine.

Speaking of consistency, I need consistent training in my forever home. I’m a jumper and a big time snuggler with little regard for personal space. I’m learning not to jump on people and Foster Dad says I’m a quick learner. I really hope you like a snuggly dog!

I was found as a stray and taken to the shelter so I’m really still learning how to be a family pet. My ideal forever home should have another playful mentor dog that can continue to get me used to new things. I haven’t been around cats or kids, so I don’t know about them.

Hopefully you’re up to taking on a dog that is still needing to learn how to “dog.” I’ll reward you with lots of love, snuggles and playtime to make it worth your while!
