Hi potential friend! I’m Poncho. I’m a year old and weigh 79 pounds. I came from a breeder and I lived outside, running free with my doggie family. The first time I ever rode in a car was the day I left and I was scared! Everything was all so new – riding in the car, going into a building, seeing a vet and meeting all these people. I had a hard time and did what they call “shut down,” staying safe by just laying in a ball.

Luckily, my foster Mom & Dad came to get me from the vet and they have patience and love for me galore. I’m learning how to trust humans and live inside. I’m especially fond of my snuggle beds that they have in each room – they’re my happy place. I like to bring some of my toys on my bed to keep me company.

I’m all about being around people now and love having dogs around too. I’m showing my traditional Golden personality in wanting to be the center of attention and needing pets. Yep, I have zero respect for personal space and think I’m a lap dog!

I hate the crate! If you put me in it, I will bark and whine. I’m taking meds to help me not be so stressed being away from my foster parents and being crated. The good news is they can leave me home alone and I won’t get up to anything naughty while they’re gone.

I hate cars! I’m still not over the shock of my first ride. You’ll need to help me get in and ideally, comfort me by sitting beside me in the backseat when we go anywhere.

My forever home ideally has another dog or two – the more confident the dog, the better. My journey to being a confident family dog is still ongoing and other dogs help me learn the ropes. My foster family has cats too and I pretty much keep my distance from them. I’m curious but not really bothered by them one way or another.

Here’s hoping you’re the family for me!
