Are you looking over here at me? I’m on the shy side. My name is Leah and I’m an introvert. I’m looking for a sidekick human I can learn to trust and love – is that you? I’m 2 1/2 years old and I only weigh about 43 pounds. I’m a woman of mystery – I showed up one day near some farmland and no one knows my history. A trapper had to help capture me because I wasn’t ready to trust any of the humans I saw.

These days, my confidence is growing since I’ve been living with a special Foster Mom who is also a dog trainer. She’s been showing me that being around humans can be fun! I even do a happy dance on my tippy toes when I see her!

Other dogs can be fun too. I like to let loose and play now and again and being around other dogs is teaching me how to be a family pet. Sometimes I’ve been known to keep order with other dogs if they get too chaotic and probably I shouldn’t live with another dominant female in my forever home. I think a doggy companion would be great though.  Active kids make me nervous. I haven’t been around cats, so I don’t know about them.

This leash thing is all new to me. I’m learning to go on really small walks but any kind of distractions make me nervous and I end up trying to bite the leash off. So I need someone who will take slow baby steps with my progress on the leash.

Once I trust people, I’m all about getting my face rubbed or a butt scratch. And I love, love, love being brushed. Mostly though, I like to watch the activity around me from my crate – that’s my Safe Place.  The more I’m out of the crate though, the more confident I get. I’ll even jump into the car now when I see my crate waiting for me.
