Kira – Adopted!
Dog ID: 240431 Sex: Female Age: 2 Year old
Hi! I’m Kira and I’m a very happy girl! I’m about 18-months-old and I weigh around 70 pounds. I’m a sweet Golden mix!
I was living a rough life on the streets and was collected by animal control. I came into TGRR underweight, scraggly and I had a bad case of heartworms. Now, my skin is almost cleared up, my fur is looking so much better (if I do say so myself), I’ve gained weight (actually a little too much), and I’m done with my heartworm treatments!
I love my foster mom and I am so grateful to her for taking such good care of me. I am a playful girl, but I’ve had to keep calm during my heartworm treatment. But now, I’m ready to PLAY! I love playing tug and I love my dog toys ALOT. I can even entertain myself with a toy.
I’m not wild about other dogs, especially dogs that get in my face. I like to be the alpha dog and honestly, would just prefer to be the only dog in my forever home.
I get excited when I’m around kids! Kids are awesome – especially the older ones (I’m too much for the young ones)! They’re great fun to play with. My neighbors have a cat and I love watching her through the fence. I’m very chill watching her, so I think I could live with a cat.
I’m good about getting in and out of the car but have been known to get car sick on long rides. The solution: don’t feed me before long car rides!
I haven’t been able to go for walks yet because of my heartworms, but I’m starting to now. I admit it, I pull pretty hard on leash when I see something that interests me. I’m a quick learner though, so if you have the patience to train me, I bet we could enjoy lots of long walks together.
As for other training, my foster mom says I have “selective hearing.” I know a lot of commands but I don’t always choose to do them. I know Sit, Come, Lie Down, Back, Leave it and Drop it. I’m mostly housebroken but sometimes foster mom has me using pee pads at night because she doesn’t feel safe taking me outside when it’s dark.
I’ve come a long way since being a stray, but I’m told there’s one final landing place in my journey – having my own Forever Family. Is that you? I hope so!
