You’ve come a long way, baby! That’s what my foster family thinks about me. I’m Hunter, I’m 7-years-old and I weigh 70 pounds. When I got to TGRR, I was pretty much shut down and afraid of everything. I’m still dealing with some anxiety, but now that I’ve lived in a happy home as a pet with other doggies to learn from, I’m starting to blossom!
I love people! Who knew? People give pets and treats and attention and all sorts of good things. What’s not to like? I’m an energetic 7-year-old and I am ready to play!
I’m still iffy on the whole car riding experience. I need to be boosted or picked up to get in, but my foster family says I’m getting better about riding in the car because they’re taking me on fun car adventures that lead to good things, like walking the Greenway, which I love!
So yeah, I do get along with other dogs mostly but I’m not completely trustworthy when it comes to sharing yet. They call what I do “resource guarding,” and I used to do it a lot with treats and toys but I’m learning that there’s enough to go around for everyone. Foster Mom even gave us special bones the other day and I did great! I would do well in a family with other dogs for me to play with, as long as you know I might need corrections for the guarding thing.
I’ve not been around cats or little kids, so I don’t know about them, but I’ve played with the teenagers I’ve met.
I do pull on leash, but I’m getting better at not doing that. Foster Mom used to crate me when she had to leave the house, but she learned that I am trustworthy in the house, so she no longer crates me.
So I’m kind of a work in progress but look how far I’ve come already! Hopefully you have what it takes to help me continue to be more confident and blossom!
