You want to meet me? Me? I’m on the shy side, as you can see. My name is Dixie. I’m 5-years-old and I weigh 70 pounds. I’ve lived most of my life outside as a breeding dog and am just now learning to be a family pet, so everything is new and a bit scary to me. When I’m in a new situation, my instinct is to flee to one of my safe spots.
I love a good snuggle session on the couch – Foster Mom says it’s my favorite thing. Having quiet time on the couch is my Love Language, and I’m first in line to get pets and lay my head on your lap.
I love other dogs! My new home needs to have at least one confident dog that I can continue to learn how to “dog” from. I take my time when I first meet new dogs but then I’m all in with playing if they’re playful or chilling if they’re not. Cats? I ignore them, I actually think they’re kind of scary creatures.
I need a boost to get into the car and quite honestly, going places stresses me out. I thrive on routine and hope that you have patience with me in helping me learn yours.
If walking is part of your routine, then you’ll need to give me time to get used to new places so that they become less scary. It’ll help if we go to places I already know and go at the same time every day.
I love being outside and have been known to entertain myself with a ball or just hang out with the other dogs at my foster home.
So yeah, that’s me. I’m a good girl that just needs love, patience and attention to shine.
